"The surest way not to fail is to determine to succeed."
I used to be extremely disappointed in myself even though the grades I got were exactly what I had deserved. Getting a report card was always hard because it would remind me that I was not working to my full potential and that my academic chances were pretty much going down the drain. Now, I am always excited to see my report card. Last semester, my GPA was a 3.87 and I can’t possibly be more proud of myself. I am committed to getting good grades from here on out and for the first time in my life I truly see the results of hard work. I am not sure why I did not do better and work harder in high school, but I have decided to focus on the future and my classes now. Hopefully, this hard work will pay off and I will be able to accomplish my dreams for the future.
Was it this previous semester that you decided to turn it around? I got a burst of motivation Winter '09 semester myself. I made the Dean's List with a 3.7, then I missed my 4.0 last semester because of 1 A-... Darn English class and peer review. But congrats on the good grades, and I hope we both get a 4.0 :)
ReplyDeleteI struggled in high school as well. Early on I didn't do too great and suffered in the end. I've started out all right in college, but not quite a 3.87. That's a very good GPA no matter where you go. Congratulations and good luck the rest of the way.
ReplyDeleteI used to be the sameway, then I enrolled in college and it was my money I was spending and diecide to stop screwing around.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like that happens to a lot of people. When they're younger they don't see the direct outcome of doing well in school, so it doesn't register high on their priority list. But going to college, becoming an adult, it becomes apparent that in order to do well in life, in order to get a good job, in order to get anything you want, you have to put some real effort in and you have to do well. I agree, seeing that report card come back with amazing grades is exciting, and you can't help but be proud of yourself. : )
ReplyDeleteStick with it and your hard work will certainly pay off, literally. You're more likely to get the job you want, with higher pay, if your college GPA is high. It's good to know people that were unfocused in HS can turn it all around in college (I am one of those people too!).
