Oh The Choices....

Often, when I decide to write a paper, for fun or for school, I am undescicive about which topic I should do. I usually end up picking one and then switching to another. Sometimes it takes me a day to decide to pick and sometimes it takes me weeks. I have found that when I start writing about one thing, it takes a turn in a different direction. For instance, writing a paper that related to my argumentative essay has been very difficult for me because there are SO many other things I want to write about. Most people would say I am a good writer and have a creative mind BUT when my creativity is limited, I have a hard time working inside the box. I do not like not being able to switch topics because it does not let my creativity flow. Although this is how I feel, I see the benefits of not switching. It forces me to commit to one subject and really pull out a good paper. My main obstacle is getting past how much i dislike the topic. I guess I'll just have to see how this paper turns out...

  1. I really enjoyed the freedom from our latest asssignment. We were able to pick our own text and write a summary and response paper on it. I felt this helped me because I could use something I"m really interested in. Ultimately giving me more direction in my paper. Some assignements are harder than others which gives me a love/hate relationship with writing.

  2. I know exactly what you mean. We also had to write a paper that related to a previous paper. Mine happened to be on the hiccups. Not the most exciting topic to write about but I am managing to get through it.
I also have your problem of randomly shifting topics. I love to write if I am allowed to write freely but sometimes we just have to deal with it and force ourselves to focus on the topic we have at hand. It's really not something I enjoy doing though.

  3. I know exactly what you are talking about. It is sometimes difficult to choose a topic and then stick with that same topic. I often want to change what I'm writing about and decide to switch topics last minute. It is even more frustrating when you are limited in your choices.I enjoy writing a lot, it's just choosing what to write about and sticking with that same idea can be challenging at times.

  4. I have changed the topic about three times on the paper I’m writing right now. When I start to think about a particular topic and what to write about, I usually write everything I know about the subject, it helps sometimes. When I can’t write much about it I usually change topics. Certain paper formats can sometimes trouble me, I’m trying my best. Good luck in your future writings.
I like all the pictures; it’s something different to look at besides just words. You make it work.

  5. I struggle with the same thing. Many times after I start writing about a particular subject I wish I would have chosen a different topic. I am a really indecisive person anyway so I usually just pick something and stay with it so I don't have to worry about getting behind or getting stuck with an even worse topic. Every now and then I choose a subject that I'm pleased with, but usually I just try to make do.
